Instrument Requirements

61.65 Eligibility Requirements

Hold at least a private pilot certificate

Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language

Aeronautical Experience

40 hours total time

50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot in command

1 cross-country flight 250 nautical miles

     * Instrument approach at each airport

     * 3 different kinds of approaches with the use of navigation systems

15 hours instrument training

3 hours within 60 days of check ride

Receive and log the required ground training
